Below are the essential CNA skills training taught hands-on, as mandated by the Florida Board of Nursing, to prepare you for the CNA certification preparation and the Florida nursing exam:

14) Perineal care

16) Measuring and recording pulse  

17) Change of position  

18) Hand and nail care  

19) Urinary drainage care  

20) Ambulation  

21) Foot care

The State Board Exam fee is currently set at $155, but the State Board of Nursing may adjust this fee in the future. This single fee encompasses both the computer-based multiple choice test and the clinical skills test, which will assess three randomly selected nursing skills practiced during your CNA certification preparation. Additionally, all healthcare professionals are required by law to undergo a Level 2 Fingerprinting and Background Check before you are scheduled for your test and can begin working. This is an essential step in your CNA skills training, particularly for those preparing for the Florida nursing exam.

Challenger

An exam challenger is someone who takes the Florida nursing exam without completing the 120 hours of State-approved training required for CNA certification preparation. A Challenger takes the same exam as other students, who attended longer programs, and can obtain the same Florida C.N.A. license if they successfully pass the examination.

Candidates will be given 3 attempts to pass both portions of the C.N.A. examination before they must enroll in a 120-hour State-approved C.N.A. training program. You are not required to take any course prior to challenging the exam. However, even with experience in CNA skills training, challenging the exam can be quite difficult. You will be assigned to demonstrate 3 specific skills and be observed by a nurse evaluator. Successful completion of each skill is necessary to pass; missing one element will result in failure.
