Basic Life Support (BLS) represents a category of medical assistance employed during emergencies to aid individuals facing life-threatening situations, including cardiac arrest, respiratory distress, or airway obstruction. BLS emphasizes the prompt identification of emergencies, the delivery of high-quality CPR, the utilization of an automated external defibrillator (AED), and the alleviation of choking. This approach is intended for healthcare professionals and trained responders to sustain circulation and respiration until more advanced medical intervention can be provided, thereby enhancing a patient's likelihood of survival.
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is a critical life-saving procedure that integrates chest compressions with rescue breathing. Chest compressions are essential for sustaining blood circulation to vital organs, whereas rescue breaths provide oxygen to the lungs. In instances where an individual's heart or breathing has ceased or is significantly compromised, CPR can facilitate the circulation of oxygenated blood to the brain and assist in restoring normal breathing until professional medical assistance is available.
First Aid refers to the prompt assistance given to an individual who has sustained an injury or experiences a sudden illness prior to the arrival of professional medical assistance. It encompasses vital skills such as halting bleeding, addressing burns, managing sprains, aiding individuals who are choking, and reacting to allergic reactions or various emergencies. First aid serves to stabilize the person, avert the deterioration of their condition, and facilitate recovery until more advanced medical care can be provided.
